We continue our series on the Ten Commandments titled, “The 10 Words.” This week we look at the seventh word, “You shall not commit adultery.” In his Sermon on the Mount Jesus explained the depth of this command and how it speaks to the condition of our hearts and the direction of our desires. Ultimately, lust is our effort to satisfy an inner restlessness caused by our separation from God. We are invited to redirect our desires toward the Lord so that we might say with the Psalmist, “Satisfy us in the morning with your unfailing love” (Psalm 90:14).
