Advent Giving Opportunities
Advent Giving
The season of Advent is upon us, allowing us to prepare our hearts to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. As is our custom, the Deacon Team recommends three special giving opportunities for you to consider as you observe Advent. These gifts are more than things to purchase. Each gift represents empowerment, long-term impact, and the opportunity for you to be the hands and feet of Jesus to those who need it most in our world.
- Valladolid Mission trip—Fifth has had a long-term partnership with Pastor Eduardo in Valladolid. In 2025, Fifth will again send a team to the city. For Advent, we will support the mission trip and any extra supplies they may need to bring to Pastor Eduardo.
- Salvation Army’s Angel Tree – We are once again partnering with the Salvation Army this year for Angel Tree. Purchase a gift appropriate to the age and gender mentioned on the tag, and returning that gift – unwrapped – to the church by Friday, December 13.
- RCA’s “Gift of Hope” Giving – Learn how to give gifts to families in need worldwide! “Gift of Hope” puts badly needed gifts into the hands of less fortunate people around the world.
How about giving a Haitian family a goat, cow, or chicken for Christmas? These gifts are game-changers for many families. And giving is easy to do by giving through Gift of Hope. How do we know there are real needs? RCA-supported missionaries identify the specific needs in their mission field. The Gift of Hope team packages them into a catalog (paper or online). You pick out specific gifts and pay by check or with a credit card. RCA missionaries make sure your gift is applied as intended.
